History West Brothers Transfer was started in 1946 by our parents Floyd and Mary West. They had a package delivery company that serviced Raleigh, NC. In 1954, they started moving furniture locally and within North Carolina. They also added pool car distribution for Kellogg and Elbow Macaroni. Their company grew with the addition of contract delivery agreements with Avon Products, Stanley Home Products, Roadway Express and IBM. In 1974, they sold the company to us, Tommy and Craig West. We started the trailer rental company in 1979. The warehousing division was enlarged with the addition of a new building in 1980. In 1984, a LTL division was started and we opened up our Charlotte, NC location in 1987. All company divisions operated on seperate P&Ls. All shared customers. In 1994, we added to our moving division by purchasing the assets of two moving companies located in Raleigh, NC. We then spun off All American West Brothers Moving & Storage, Inc., an agent for Mayflower. In 1997, we started Logistic Leasing, LLC a full service truck leasing and contract maintenance company. In 1998, we decided that the only way to be as good as we could be was to get the ownership into the hands of the people running the day-to-day operations. We knew from experience that ownership was a great motivator. We also sold our moving company to two of our managers, who changed the name to All American Mayflower. In 2001, we sold off our LTL division to Milan Express of Milan, TN. This allowed us to complete the separation of our different operating divisions. This was a critical step in getting our 1998 plan to get stock into the hands of our employees. The end result of that separation is the different operating companies we have today.
